Sarah Nelson is an illustrator and artist based in

Los Angeles, CA.

She uses traditional and digital drawing tools to tell stories, highlight beauty, and to ask questions.

She has a deep passion for the planet and most recently her work has focused on wildlife and environmental concerns.

She splits her time between client work and fine art personal projects that go to galleries around the country.

In 2016 she started Auslandish Company, which has grown into something bigger: Works By Sarah Nelson. From one specific illustration style, her business has grown to something more comprehensive and service based.

Her Auslandish illustrations continue on as a line of work within WbySN.

In 2017, Sarah went full time with her illustration career, working from her home studio. In 2018 she was offered the Artist-in-Residence with the Sustainable Communities Partnership (SCP) at the University of St. Thomas in Minnesota. Her work with SCP was to partner with students and non-profit and government agencies to communicate research on sustainability to the general public.

(Some of these outcomes with Metro Transit and the UST Pollinator Path.)

Over all, she aims to spark curiosity and add a little good to the world, believing that art can be a good tool for doing just that.

In JUNE 2020 Sarah will embark on a barquentine vessel in Svalbard Norway to sail through the Arctic Circle for a month alongside other artists and scientists. You can follow along with that journey in the BLOG portion of this website starting in late Spring 2020.
